We have the room painted and the carpet cleaned... We're ready to move his crib in and get it set up! I can't wait to start hanging up his cute wadrobe... And get his bag packed to come home from the hospital!

I am feeling really uncomfortable. I've hit the point in the pregnancy that I thought I would never hit... The "complaining" phase. I'm so uncomfortable all the time, and I'm finding myself complaining to people about my discomfort... It's gotten to the point, where I can't even pretend that I'm perfectly content feeling like I'm out of breath, groin pain, pelvic pain, swollen feet, hurting feet, too hot, too cold, not hungry, really hungry, want this, want that... etc.

On a BIG RAVE, I had my baby shower this past weekend. I hate to admit it, but I was quite relieved when it was over! I was so physically uncomfortable and all I really wanted to do, was to lay down and not talk to anyone... Except for my sisters... since I really don't mind if they see me relaxed. Plus they always have interesting things to say. I am so tired of people asking me, "How are you feeling?" And I'm even more tired of giving the canned answer, "I feel great!"

Anyway, trying to be positive again, the shower was really cute and fun. The girls did a really great job getting everything together. The food was fun to eat... and it was nice to get all my friends together in one room. :) I loved all my presents and I am learning to enjoy being the center of attention at events like this... I doubt there will ever be another time in my life where the party will be about me... From now on, the party will be the BABY! :)

Last night I had a bizarre dream that the baby was trying to come out. :) He was too small to come out... but his little head and little hand imprints were on my belly... It was just too cute!!! The only freaky part about the dream was the way my skin was stretching... I looked kind of gross... but I was too in awe and excited to see him trying to get out...

There's a lot of work still to be done in getting ready for the baby and getting moved into the house. I'm feeling practically immobile, and it's really tough for me to lift things now... Even lifting a heavy pot, I'm feeling strained... I really feel like I'm only capable of sitting and complaining these days...

I feel especially grateful to my wonderful hubby who is really taking charge of everything... And doing a lot of moving on his own. Woot!

34 Weeks (6 weeks till the ringer goes off!)

Here we are in the last phase of pregnancy... the clock is ticking and many wonderful things are happening to our little family.

First of all, we closed on our first home last week! The house feels like home already, (although we haven't even moved in yet). We fantasize about how wonderful the house will be once we get it exactly the way we want it! Yesterday, I hired a lawn guy to come in and take care of the lawn. And we are having contractors start work on Friday to fix some safety concerns... like the loose stair banister, the loose deck railing, the missing step from the side door, a loose aluminium siding, and the missing sink base.

Second, work threw us a surprise baby shower! Wow! I feel so lucky with all my baby loot! Lots of cute little socks and cute little mittens. Folks really got us a lot of stuff off our registry... Baby's room decor is almost COMPLETE! This just makes me more excited... I can't wait to get the baby's room all set up! Manuel and I started taping up the baby's room, and last night we went to go look for paint. I'm partial to green and Daddy is partial to yellow. We also bought a carpet cleaner... Not that we really need it, but I imagine with a little one peeing/pooing/throwing up/throwing food... it will come in handy! :)

This is going to be a special weekend for me. It's baby shower weekend! My dear friend has her shower on Saturday and I have mine on Sunday. I'm looking forward to the event and all the fun stuff showers include... like the food. :) I am REALLY looking forward to the food.

Tomorrow I have my 34 week prenatal visit. I'm also going to an open house for a daycare... Kid will eventually have to go which already makes me sad to think about. I do feel relieved that I found an acceptable pediatrician in the neighborhood!

Well, life is quite busy but very very exciting! :) We are all very happy.

32 Weeks

Today, I am 32 weeks. I am now visiting the doc every two weeks! With only about 8 weeks left, there is still plenty to do to get ready for the little one. We are anticipating on closing next week. I spend a lot of time fantasizing about getting the nursery ready... I know that we have some major renovations to complete... but they all seem so secondary to me.

We bought our baby's bedding the other night. The theme of camo/helicopters/planes is going to look cute cute cute in his little room. Daddy has already started a collection of matchbox cars for him... And Mommy has made some progress on his wadrobe. :)

The little guy is busy busy busy in the belly. I can tell that he's getting bigger and stronger.

Things I have been thinking about eating: Dim Sum. Avocados. Cheese and Crackers.

Week 29

We continue with major kicking!

Week 28

Friday afternoon at work... my eyelids are falling down. I am sleepy! Good news at the doctors... I only gained a pound since my last appt. four weeks ago. That puts me about back on track with my weight. Unfortunately, I failed my glucose test so I have to take the three hour test next week. Poop.

Baby has a bunch of new trains and toy cars. He also has a bunch of new baby clothes... onsies, sleepers and cute little pants... even some cute hats and socks!

Week 27

Well, I believe I'm into the 3rd trimiester! As of today, baby will be arriving in only 90 days! That's about 3 more months! Although he isn't here yet, he is definitely making his presence known with his very very strong kicks! Just yesterday, I saw my badge lift off my stomach from a good kick! I feel most of the jabs in my right upper belly area.

There is plenty to prepare for, and I think the best way for me to get ready right now is to just read and collect information on how to best prepare myself for birthing, breastfeeding and baby care... As for all the baby "stuff" that he'll be needing, I'm going to try to wait a little longer before I start buying furniture and gear... In the meantime, I want to start bargain shopping...

The weather here has been mild this week compared to last week. I've taken the metro to work everyday of the week! And I have been very good about packing my lunches to save money... and eating sensible... for the most part. :) I have another prenatal next Friday and I am anticipating that I will have a good report to the doctor.

Week 26

A bit delayed in my Week 26 update becaue we have been busy busy busy! Baby has been very busy... He gives extra punches and kicks when he hears Daddy laugh. Daddy's laugh is one of those fun laughs that makes you wish that you could find as much humor in something as him... :) It's one of those laughs that is just purely contagious.

I'm so thankful for baby kicks and baby punches. He's in there having a good ol' time. I'm thankful for a wonderful husband... that is going to be a wonderful daddy... I'm really really quite content these days. :)

I have chosen the baby crib and the mattress for the crib. I'm still on the prowl for a "free" dresser that I can refinish for the nursery. I hope I can get something good off the "free" section on Craigslist...

Week 25

DH and I went on a small babymoon getaway this past weekend to VA Beach. It was exactly what we needed to get out of WDC and enjoy the water, the food and the company. The water temperature was too cold for me, but we did enjoy catching some rays on the beach and walking along the boardwalk. We also enjoyed ourselves at the many many restaurants. VA Beach is a great beach to visit because it is clean clean clean! And the area is very family oriented.

Baby has been practicing his kung fu regularly! He is usually up at 4 am working on his kicks and punches... which means I'm up and awake... Gosh, I wish I could get more sleep! I thought I'd be enjoying my solid sleep for all 9 months! No one told me that even during the 9 months my sleep would be interrupted by numerous nightly potty runs, and baby deciding to do some midnight salsa.

We had a prenatal appt. on Tuesday. We saw a new doctor. In a matter-of-fact tone, he announced that I shouldn't wear flip flops and that I was also gaining too much weight too fast. Ok... I admit I haven't been eating that healthy... And it is something that I will promise to work on. Actually, I already have. :)

Baby will be arriving in a short 15 weeks. I'm starting to do my research on cribs and other baby necessities. It's going to be an exciting and very busy next few months as we prepare for the little one, get into a house, and Manuel will be wrapping up his school work.

We are doing well and we are very excited!

Week 24

Plenty of movement from the Little Man everyday. :) Big obsessions this past week has been bananas and corn on the cob. In 17 weeks, you will be entering into the world to meet your Mommy and Daddy! In the last week, your fluttering has changed to little kicks and I'm feeling your movements everyday. I feel you when I least expect it and I am always so excited when I get a little baby kick from you! A few nights ago, Daddy put his hands on my belly and he felt your little kicks for the first time. He was really excited and couldn't believe how strong your little kicks were!

This past week, Daddy and I noticed that I am getting some stretch marks near my belly button. I call them my pregnancy tattoos. :)

Your Daddy and I have your name picked out already. We had it picked out weeks ago and we are keeping it a secret until you arrive. Your name is really special to your Daddy... I know that you will love it.

Right now, it is NBA Finals Season. You don't know it yet, but you are going to be a San Antonio Spurs fan just like your Daddy! The Spurs wlil be playing in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals tonight. When you get older, your Daddy will teach you everything that you will need to know about basketball... and a lot of other stuff!

Yesterday we celebrated your Daddy's 35th birthday! He is going to be the best daddy in the world. You are going to love him!

Keep growing!

Lots of Love,
Mommy

Week 22

The little man is moving lots these days. I am quite sure that Daddy will be able to feel the little man kicking very soon! I still feel fluttering, but they are becoming very distinct little kicks. My abdomen is quite round and hard these days... I love feeling pregnant!

The only negative symptons that I've been experiencing has been the pelvic pain. It seems that it is quite normal. I have found this week that the pain has improved a bit with increase intake of water. I've also made sure that I didn't sit too long and keep my legs and joints limber throughout the day.

We decided to withdraw our contract on the house. Sometimes, enough is just enough... I'm not worried about it though... I know that we'll find something that we'll really love being in.

I am craving cold icees.....

Baby just kicked... He says hi...

21 Weeks

We had our big ultrasound last Friday. I couldn't be happier and more excited!

Baby is moving a lot these days! I'm feeling him move ALL THE TIME! I love feeling him moving about. And I love seeing him... I can't wait to actually meet him in person in 19 weeks! I'm starting to feel quite pregnant and round. I'm faced with a couple challenges this week including allergies and some tenderness in a very sensitive area.

I am feeling the little guy more often, especially while at work sitting and typing at my desk. I know it's him because it feels like bubbles in my lower abdomen... I hope he's comfy in there!

I'm excited about tomorrow morning. It's time for the big 20 week ultrasound! I expect the little guy to show us his goods again so we can confirm that he's got a hotdog.

Week 19

The weather is beautiful here in Washington, DC. This last week, I've been feeling lots of gurgling going on inside. We're almost at the halfway mark! It's all very exciting! My goals this week is to increase H2O consumption. I really don't think I'm drinking enough water. I've been thinking a lot about food lately. Right now I'm craving dimsum.

We did get some encouraging news from our real estate agent. Baby Juarez may have a nursery when he arrives!!! My weekly milestone now being a bell pepper, was over-shadowed by my great enthusiasm to see the Holy Father. DH and I had entered lotteries in hopes that we would be able to get tickets to this mornings mass at the new Nationals Stadium. Instead, we'll be watching the mass this evening thanks to our trusty DVR. :)

During our lunch hour yesterday, we jumped on the metro and made our way to Foggy Bottom and stood waiting patiently with thousands of other anticipating folks for his appearance around the Washington Circle. We were both so excited at the opportunity to see the Pope in his popemobile.

Although I find myself swamped and stressed with daily life rituals and work, the papal visit has made me reflect upon how grateful, thankful and happy I am with my wonderful life. I feel so thankful for my wonderful husband. I am just in awe with the miracle of life and of our son growing inside of me. And during this time, I pray that He protects all unborn children and comfort all those that have experienced loss.

*********************

Exciting milestone happened on Saturday (Week 17 Day 3) at prenatal yoga... I felt fluttering! There is no better word to describe the feeling... Fluttering! I'm quite sure that it was our little one saying that he wanted me get out of the bizarre pose I was in.

April 11 - Third Prenatal Appointment

Today I am 17 weeks and 2 days. I'm also really curious about what his personality will be like. Will he be a quiet perfectionist and enjoy reading and playing in solitude? Or will he be a loud, rambunctious fellow that I won't be able to control? Maybe he'll be a total clown, a prankster, love laughing and making those around him laugh. Will he be a leader and have the run of all the kids in the nieghborhood? I wonder if he'll love napping like his dad, or staying up late like his mommy.

I wonder if he'll be a picky eater, or if he'll love eating all kinds of foods like his mommy and daddy... Chinese, Tex-Mex, Italian, Japanese, Korean... I wonder what sport he'll be most interested in... Will we be taking him to little league baseball, basketball or karate? I wonder if he'll be interested in playing an instrument like the piano or maybe the saxophone! I wonder if he'll be right handed or left handed. I wonder if he'll be an artist or a scientist.

I feel so much closer to my baby now that I know he's a little boy and seeing him via ultrasound on Thursday. It feels like parenthood will be here before I know it. Being a mommy will be so much fun.

Week 16

I absolutely loved the prenatal yoga class that I took over the weekend. I realized that I need to include more strength training and do more than just regular walking back and forth to the metro and work.

The baby should be able to hear these days. I bet it's pretty loud inside my tummy! Manuel has put his ear against my abdomen and he says that my intestines are churning and that it sounds LOUD!

I've spent some time laying still trying to feel the little one... There are times when I think I might feel a tapping, but I'm really not sure if it's someone saying hello, or if it's just my active digestive system.

Week 15

I'm definitely starting to bulge. Wearing my pants totally unbuttoned and unzipped with the bella band just isn't cutting it any longer. I'm going maternity wear full time. We stopped by the mall and I got a more comfortable (larger) bra and a few maternity outfits at the mall.

I've been in a superb mood the last couple of weeks. I can get quite grouchy in the evenings when I'm getting too tired or even too hungry. My relationship with food just hasn't been the same since I've been pregnant. So far, it's not as much as what I've been craving as it is what I will tolerate to eat. I have been really enjoying eating fruit. And I made a pasta salad that I found to be really tasty. I do find myself at times eating something and then totally regretting it.

The baby is the size of an apple this week.

Week 14

Officially entering my second trimester!!!

I'm most looking forward to getting my energy back! I have lots to do before the third trimester arrives. My goal for this trimester is try to find a house. Crossing fingers that we'll find the perfect little place to start our family. :)

In the last week, I've been finding myself really fickle with foods. I have really been wanting to eat a lot of fruit. I want a lot of variety of fruits to eat... I end up at the diner downstairs paying by the pound... It's expensive stuff!

I'm wearing maternity clothes officially now. Maternity clothes are sooooo comfortable!

Week 13

Size of fetus: Shrimp
Rave: Sister that has been there and let me borrow her pregnancy books!
